My name is Ian and I live in the Volunteer State that is also known as Tennessee! I’ve always had an interest in gardening and I’m pretty sure it’s mainly due to my grandmother always having a garden during the summer. She lives in Alabama and anytime we go and visit, she has a meal prepared using fresh vegetables from her garden. Growing up, I would spend my summers with her and it was mostly spent out in the garden planting, weeding, watering, feeding, etc.
My intention with this blog is to showcase how to grow a sustainable, high yielding garden in a somewhat small area. I’m using about 100 square feet of ground in a sun-to-full sun location. I’m looking to grow vegetables that my family uses commonly throughout the week to help offset the rising costs at grocery stores. Most of the vegetables I am looking toward growing have multiple uses, such as tomatoes and potatoes for a quick example. All of the plants I grow have been started from seed, unless I mention otherwise.
And I just want to be clear- I’m no means a professional. I’m simply a guy who likes to plant seeds, watch them turn into plants, and reap the bounty they produce. So, you may see me do something and think, “Umm, that’s not the ‘right’ way…” and that may be true. However, if there is one thing I know about gardening, it’s that there is always more than one way to do something.
Please stick around and check back often to see my progress. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org! Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you again soon!
